Drawing on that rich inheritance, the family company evolved across several generations, changing the nature of its business. After the war it became a leading supplier of woollen and cashmere fabrics, and towards the end of the 20th century it began producing ready-to-wear clothing and accessories as well.

Vicuña wool — the luxury above luxuries

Loro Piana is the only company licensed to produce and trade the most expensive wool in the world — the wool of the Andean vicuña. It is a fibre so fine and so rare that for centuries it was reserved for the most demanding. Today it is the hallmark of the highest luxury.
